Tina Woodruff

tinaFor fifty years, almost every day, I have painted. It gives me great pleasure and fulfillment but I am not attached to my paintings. The joy seems to be in the concept and execution of them. In fact, there are only 10 or so originals that I have kept throughout the years.

My goal is to communicate to my viewer. For instance, with the paintings depicting porches, I want the person viewing to go there, read a book, have some tea, and relax. My collectors mention to me that this is exactly what they do, go into the painting.

Many call me a colorist. I do mix but often use pure color. Therefore, my paintings usually are bright and cheerful. I prefer not to paint unhappiness or negativity but rather to lift up the viewer with my paintings.

My work has been shown in many galleries and hangs in many corporate spaces from Richmond to Daytona Beach, Texas and Seattle.

I am an extremely prolific artist.

I have painted under the names of four husbands, including Irick, Smith, Nauer and Woodruff but it has always been “Tina.” About life’s passion-when you find it or it finds you- you will be married to it all of your life.

My life’s passion is painting.
